JUST IN: Former PDP National Secretary, Ude-Okoye, dumps party

Must read

Former National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sunday Udeh-Okoye, has announced his resignation from the party, accusing its leadership of abandoning the core principles upon which it was founded.

In a resignation letter addressed to his Agbogugu Ward Chairman in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, Udeh-Okoye said his decision was driven by the PDP’s departure from its founding ideals.

He expressed appreciation to the party for offering him the platform to serve in various capacities, including as a member of the Enugu State House of Assembly, National Youth Leader, and most recently, National Secretary.

According to him, the values of unity, justice, and equity that once defined the PDP have been eroded.

Udeh-Okoye lamented that the party, which once symbolized hope for democratic governance in Nigeria, has “lost its moral compass and ideological direction.”

Udeh-Okoye was earlier nominated by the PDP’s South East Zonal Working Committee to replace Senator Sam Anyanwu, who vacated his position to contest the Imo governorship election, but his nomination was later rejected.
