Enugu Governor set to join APC

Must read

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State is reportedly set to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) next week.

According to Daily Post, the development was made known on Friday in Abuja by the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, and the party’s Deputy National Chairman (South-East), Emma Eneukwu.

They disclosed the planned defection during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly constituted Enugu State APC caretaker committee, headed by former state chairman, Ben Nwoye, at the party’s national secretariat.

The governor is expected to officially declare his defection at an event scheduled to hold in Enugu next week.

Confirming the move, the new caretaker chairman, Nwoye, said Mbah would be joining the APC along with all his appointees.

Party sources said Mbah’s defection was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the APC’s political base in the South-East ahead of the 2027 general elections.

There are also indications that Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, may soon follow suit and defect to the APC.
