The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has intensified efforts to secure Abuja, focusing on uncompleted buildings and abandoned structures that criminals may be using as hideouts.
In a statement released on Tuesday by SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ajao S. Adewale, instructed all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to boost patrols and carry out targeted raids across the territory.
“Our goal is to deny criminals any safe space to operate and to ensure the safety of residents and property,” CP Ajao said.
The directive, effective immediately, also requires property developers to register their workers and security personnel with local police stations.
Officers are expected to ensure all artisans, guards, and labourers sleeping on construction sites are properly documented by the end of October 2025.
CP Ajao further stressed that DPOs should arrest any unidentified individuals found on sites after 6:00 p.m.
He also reiterated that scavenging activities, known locally as “Baban Bola,” are banned within the FCT. Residents are urged to report scavengers or suspicious persons in their areas promptly.
“Security is a shared responsibility,” the Commissioner emphasised.
“We urge estate associations, community leaders, and residents to work closely with the police by reporting unusual activities and ensuring domestic staff and security guards are properly profiled.”
The FCT Police Command has made its emergency contact lines available for public reports: 08032003913 and 08061581938.
SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, reaffirmed the commitment of the Command to proactive policing and community safety.
