Natasha returns to Senate after suspension

Must read

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, on Tuesday resumed her legislative duties at the National Assembly after completing a six-month suspension.

She was sighted at the Senate chamber as the upper legislative house reconvened for plenary following a 10-week recess, with Senate President Godswill Akpabio presiding.

Her return marks the end of a suspension that sparked nationwide reactions and divided opinions among lawmakers and political observers earlier in the year.

Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended in March 2025 for alleged misconduct after protesting the reassignment of her seat by the Senate President on February 20.

Following her suspension, her office in Suite 2.05 of the Senate Wing was sealed on March 6, 2025, but was later reopened by the Deputy Director of the National Assembly Sergeant-at-Arms, Alabi Adedeji.

Akpoti-Uduaghan had described Akpabio as a “dictator” when she was allowed access to her office two weeks ago after serving her suspension.
