There was tension in Zamfara State yesterday night as bandits reportedly launched deadly attacks on Maru town and Kamani village, killing several residents and abducting many others, including young girls.
A post shared on X (formerly Twitter) by an online commentator, Bakatsine, who disclosed the development, revealed that the armed men invaded Maru town in Maru Local Government Area, where they reportedly killed residents and kidnapped several people.
According to the post, the attackers later stormed Kamani village in Talata Mafara Local Government Area, where they abducted many girls.
Bakatsine described the recurring violence in the state as “deeply alarming” and called the attention of relevant authorities, tagging Governor Dauda Lawal, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and social commentator Woye.
“ALERT: Yesterday night, bandits attacked Maru town in Zamfara State, killing residents & abducting several others. They also invaded Kamani village in Talata Mafara LGA, kidnapping many girls. The relentless attacks in Zamfara are deeply alarming,” the post read.
As of press time, police in Zamfara had yet to issue an official statement on the latest attacks.
