Grammys-nominated musician, Davido has spoken on how he was about to quit music before his hit song, “With You” with his colleague, Omah Lay.
The star revealed this while speaking in a recent interview that is currently making the round on social media.
According to him, he never expected the song to be the most popular in his 5ive Album.
The “Skelewu” crooner revealed that before his song with Omah Lay he was thinking of bowing out of the music industry after a career spanning a decade.
He expressed gratitude to have had a song that did very well after 14 years in the music industry, noting that some do get such explosive music early on in their career or much later.
“We thank God. 13 or 14 years after for me to have this kind of song, people have this kind of song at the beginning of their career or in the middle. Me that was even getting ready to bow out then God gives me this kind of song. He definitely added more life to it…”
It is worth noting that Davido’s “With You” ft. Omah Lay is now the #1 most streamed 2025 Nigerian song on Spotify.
It was also nominated for “Song of the Year” at the 2025 AFRIMA Awards, topping charts like the Official Nigeria Top 100, and becoming a top 5 Afrobeats song on Billboard US.
