Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has urged President Bola Tinubu to suspend the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
He also urged Tinubu to order a probe into the alleged property scandal linked to Wike in the United States.
In a statement issued in Abuja Thursday, Frank said the President must show the same decisiveness he demonstrated when he suspended former Humanitarian Affairs Minister, Betta Edu, over corruption allegations.
He argued that the charges against Wike were even weightier and demanded urgent action.
According to him, President Tinubu’s silence despite “overwhelming evidence of the houses in public domain” was disturbing and could damage the government’s anti-corruption credentials.
“With detailed reports from credible sources such as People’s Gazette and Sahara Reporters, and with glaring evidence ignored by anti-corruption agencies like EFCC and ICPC, it sends a dangerous message that some officials are untouchable,” he lamented.
Frank warned that shielding government officials from accountability undermines citizens’ trust in governance and could trigger public unrest.
He praised Omoyele Sowore and other publishers for their role in exposing corruption involving high-ranking officials.
He added that protecting Wike for political reasons ahead of the 2027 elections would harm Nigeria’s reputation.
“The President should protect the dignity of Nigeria and the trust of its citizens by rejecting selective justice and political expediency. The integrity of Nigeria’s governance and its image on the global stage depend on it,” Frank said.
