Six people were pulled out alive on Wednesday after a two-storey building caved in on Modupeola Street, Mangoro, Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.

The incident, which happened around 6 pm, came barely two weeks after four persons died in a similar collapse at No. 325 Bornu Street, Ebute Meta.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed the development in a statement on his Instagram page.

Omotoso wrote, “A two-storey building has collapsed at 4, Modupeola Street, Mangoro bus stop, Alimosho, Lagos State. The cause of the incident, which occurred around 6 p.m., was not immediately known. Government officials have launched a probe into the incident.”

He disclosed that operatives of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) and other responders rescued six victims from the rubble.

“The LASEMA and other first responders got to the scene in good time and rescued a trapped victim and five others from the rubble,” he said.

Omotoso added that while five of the victims were treated in a nearby private hospital, the trapped victim, who suffered fractures, was taken by the Lagos State Ambulance Service to LASUTH, where he was admitted in stable condition.
