No fever than fourteen (14) shops have been ravaged by fire in one of the markets in Ibadan
The fourteen shops were ravaged during a fire incident that occurred at Ogundipe market, Agodi Gate in Ibadan, sources revealed.
It was learnt that the incident occured in the early hours of Wednesday.
Sources narrated that goods and properties worth millions of naira were said to have been affected by the fire.
Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service, Hon Maroof Akinwande confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Wednesday.
Akinwande in the statement, said that no casualty was recorded in the incident.
He said, “The fire personnel led by CFS Olayiwola T.K promptly mobilized and responded to the distressed call.
“upon arrival, we met fourteen (14) shops out of forty -two (42) shops well alight and we swiftly swung into action, the fire was curtailed and restricted from spreading to other nearby shops in the market.
‘No casualty was recorded. The operation was carried out successfully and properties worth billions of naira were saved by the officers of the fire service. The post fire incident investigation is in progress so as to ascertain the root cause of the fire incident”.
