Steps underway for Wike’s arrest, extradition to US – Sowore

Must read

Human rights activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has accused Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, of laundering public funds abroad, alleging that international legal moves are already in progress to secure his arrest.

In a post on his official X handle on Monday, Sowore claimed that Wike used stolen resources to acquire luxurious mansions in Florida for members of his immediate family.

“We hope Nigeria’s FCT Minister, @GovWike, won’t escape accountability. He has laundered stolen funds to buy mansions for every member of his immediate family in Florida,” Sowore alleged.

He further warned that talks were advancing toward securing an international warrant that could see the minister extradited to the United States.

“Steps are already in motion toward securing an international warrant that could see @GovWike arrested and extradited to the US to face money laundering charges sooner than he thinks,” Sowore added.

The development comes against the backdrop of a fresh warning by the U.S. Mission in Nigeria that corrupt officials, no matter their status, risk visa bans and sanctions extending to family members.

As of press time, Wike has not issued any response to the allegations from Sowore
