Must read

A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has been killed in a late-night attack by unidentified gunmen, sparking shock and condemnation across the political circle.

The victim, identified as Ejeh Udeh, was reportedly gunned down at his residence in Otukpo on Sunday night.

Witnesses said the assailants stormed his home and opened fire in front of his family before fleeing the scene.

According to local sources, the incident has thrown the community into fear, with residents calling on security agencies to intensify surveillance in the area.

“This was clearly a targeted attack,” one community leader told reporters. “We are still in shock because he was not just a politician, he was also a unifying figure.”

The state chapter of the APC described the killing as a devastating loss. A party official who spoke on condition of anonymity said, “This is a sad day for us. We call on security operatives to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.”

Police authorities in Benue confirmed the attack, noting that investigations are underway to track down the gunmen.

Spokesperson for the command assured that no effort would be spared in bringing those responsible to book.

The killing adds to the rising wave of violence in Benue, a state already grappling with security challenges ranging from banditry to communal clashes.
