Two personnel of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) were reportedly abducted by suspected bandits in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.

The development was disclosed on Friday by a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst, Zagazola Makama, via his X handle and sighted by AFRIPOST.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the officers were seized on September 10 while returning from duty.

Zagazola wrote, “Sources said the victims, identified as Orasuur Oliver Orseer of Jato-Aka and Orwese David James, both serving at the Immigration Forward Operations Base, Adikpo, were deployed to a border checkpoint in Ugbema, Buruku LGA, on the day of the incident.

“After they closed from duty, the officers travelled on their motorcycle to Zaki-Biam, Ukum LGA. On their way back, they were intercepted and abducted by suspected local bandits to an unknown destination,” sources said.

“The sources added that the matter was reported to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Kwande by an immigration officer, Shiekaa Yosev, on Sept. 18.

“The sources said anti-kidnapping and tactical teams had been mobilised to search and rescue the victims, while efforts were ongoing to track down the suspects for possible arrest.

“The sources assured that investigation was ongoing and further developments would be communicated.
