Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara will address residents in a statewide broadcast by 6 pm today.
The governor said the broadcast would focus on appreciating stakeholders who helped restore peace in the state and reassuring citizens of his administration’s commitment.
Fubara made this known on Friday shortly after returning to Port Harcourt, where he was received by a large crowd at the airport.
“We are going to address the state officially by 6 pm., and in that broadcast, we will appreciate everyone who brought normalcy to this state,” he said.
His return comes days after President Bola Tinubu lifted the six-month state of emergency imposed in March 2025.
The declaration had suspended Fubara, his deputy, and the Rivers State House of Assembly following a political and legislative crisis.
Democratic governance was restored on September 17, paving the way for the governor’s return to office.
