Ex-Ondo Deputy Gov, Agboola, withdraws appeal

A former Deputy Governor of Ondo State and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Chief Ajayi Alfred Agboola, has pulled out of his appeal at the Supreme Court challenging the outcome of the last governorship election in the state.

In a letter dated September 16 and addressed to the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Agboola said the decision followed consultations with his family, political associates, party members and legal advisers.

“As the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, I have engaged in thoughtful discussions with my family, party members, associates, and legal advisors. After careful deliberation, we have reached a consensus that the appeal should be withdraw and I’m by this letter so do,” he wrote.

Agboola explained that his priority was to promote peace, unity and good governance in the state, stressing that his political ambition would not override the collective interest of the people.

“Having served as the former Deputy Governor and as a representative of my constituents at the national level, my foremost commitment is to the principles of good governance and the promotion of peaceful coexistence in Ondo State and across Nigeria,” he added.

The PDP candidate also congratulated Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, pledging to support him in moving the state forward.

“In this spirit, I extend my heartfelt wishes to His Excellency Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa as he leads our state, and I remain dedicated to contributing positively to the State and National development,” he said.

He urged residents of the state to embrace peace and unity for the progress of Ondo.
