Rhodes-Vivour alleges Police collusion with APC thugs at paid venue

Must read

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the 2023 Labour Party governorship candidate in Lagos State, has accused the Nigeria Police of colluding with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to take over a venue he had paid for.

The allegation came on Monday during an interview, where Rhodes-Vivour claimed the police allowed APC operatives to hold a rally at the site despite prior approvals and payments made by his team.

He demanded an explanation from the Commissioner of Police over the incident.

“That would be a fantastic question to ask the Commissioner of Police because I have raised this issue before. We obtained approval from the police, received the letter, and made the necessary payments, yet they allowed the venue to be taken over.

“The government must begin to explain these actions because our responsibility is simply to notify them, while theirs is to protect citizens, not to dictate who can do what, when, and how.

“That contravenes our constitution and the democratic process we are supposed to be practising.

“The police also need to explain how they escorted thugs into a church, allowed them to violently disrupt a gathering, and stood by watching it all unfold,” he said.
