PDP must reconcile or risk collapse in 2027 – Chieftain

Must read

The National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), has warned that unresolved internal disputes could jeopardise the party’s chances in the 2027 presidential election.

Ajibade, who is a member of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), sounded the note of caution at the PDP National Restoration Movement Summit in Abuja, where he said festering divisions could degenerate into crises that may weaken the party’s electoral fortunes.

“A divided PDP cannot win elections,” he said, urging members to put aside personal ambitions for the greater good of the party.

“Ambition is not a sin, but when it threatens the very foundation of the party, it becomes destructive.”

The PDP chieftain insisted that unity was the only pathway to presenting the party as a credible alternative to Nigerians in 2027.

He pointed to the party’s past achievements in government, including reforms in telecommunications, banking, pensions and transparency, as proof that it could deliver national development if internal harmony is restored.

Also addressing the summit, National President of the PDP National Restoration Movement, Mr. Joseph Onuoha, called for reconciliation among stakeholders, stressing that the party’s grassroots structures, if properly mobilised, could guarantee victory at the polls.

Onuoha added that the forthcoming FCT area council elections would serve as a litmus test for the PDP’s preparedness ahead of 2027.

Ajibade concluded by stressing that reconciliation within the PDP was essential not only for electoral success but also for political stability in Nigeria.
