Troops kill bandits, recover stolen cattle in Niger

Must read

Troops of the Nigerian Armed Forces have killed several bandits and recovered rustled cattle during coordinated air and ground offensives in Niger State.

The development was disclosed by a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst, Zagazola Makama, via his X handle and sighted by AFRIPOST.

According to Makama, security sources said the armed groups had launched attacks on villages around Atabo, Zoma and adjoining communities in Magama Local Government Area, carting away herds of cattle before retreating towards Zamfara State.

“They, however, came under sustained aerial bombardments, which neutralised many of them and enabled the recovery of the stolen animals.

“Sources added that on Tuesday, some of the surviving fighters attempted to regroup to launch a counterattack in a bid to reclaim the cattle, but troops again engaged them in a decisive encounter, killing several and aborting their plan.
