Troops intensify rescue after deadly bandit attack in Kaduna villages

Troops of 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with other security agencies, have stepped up rescue operations following a deadly bandit attack in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The development was disclosed on Monday by a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst, Zagazola Makama, via his X handle and sighted by AFRIPOST.

According to the report, at about 5:55 a.m. on September 7, 2025, a large group of armed bandits stormed Wake village, shooting sporadically before extending the assault to nearby Gadanaji village.

Several villagers were killed in the onslaught, including Elisha Pius, Japhet Bitrus, Obadiah Joshua, Luka Augustine, and Paul Augustine of Wake village, as well as Ezekiel Augustine, Ishaya Paul, and Bulus Bawa of Gadanaji village.

Others sustained varying degrees of injuries, among them Sanda Christopher, Issac Elisha, Moses Christian, Godday Clement, and Janet Godday of Wake village, as well as Sunday Nuhu, Zakariah Anthony, and Gideon Pius of Gadanaji village.

Zagazola added that a number of residents were abducted and taken to unknown destinations during the attack.

Troops were said to have swiftly mobilised to the affected communities, with the injured rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment, while some were later referred to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital in Kaduna.

Combing operations have since been intensified to rescue the abducted villagers and track down the perpetrators. As of press time, the Kaduna State Government had yet to issue a statement on the incident or visit the affected communities.
