Ganduje opens up on dumping APC for ADC after stepping down as party national chairman

Must read

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has firmly denied claims that he intends to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) following his resignation from the party’s leadership.

Ganduje, who led the APC from August 3, 2023, until his resignation on June 27, 2025, attributed his decision to step down to health concerns.

Despite stepping aside, rumours have circulated in recent weeks suggesting that he and some loyalists were considering defecting to the ADC.

Addressing the speculation, Ganduje’s spokesperson, Edwin Olofu, insisted that the ex-chairman remains a steadfast supporter of the APC and the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

“Ganduje is not only devoted to the APC but also fully aligned with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Any talk of him leaving the party is completely unfounded,” Olofu stated.

The former Kano State governor emphasised that his loyalty to the party remains unwavering, adding that such misinformation only serves to distract from the APC’s ongoing political agenda.

While defections are common in Nigeria’s political landscape, Ganduje’s public reaffirmation of loyalty signals his continued influence within the APC and a commitment to supporting its objectives ahead of upcoming elections.
