Edo State All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, has vowed that nothing, not even his own position, will stop President Bola Tinubu from securing 2.5 million votes in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during an exclusive interview on TVC’s Thursday morning show, Tenebe insisted that party discipline is non-negotiable as the APC works to deliver on its promises to the President.
“I have told our members repeatedly that the 2.5 million votes we pledged to deliver for President Tinubu in Edo State is not just achievable, it is already settled,” Tenebe said.
“If my own hands stand in the way of that goal, I will cut them off. If it takes my head, I will cut it off. That is how serious we are about this commitment.”
The interview came in the wake of the party’s recent suspension of Valentine Asuwen, the 2023 senatorial candidate for Edo South, over alleged anti-party activities.
The APC’s Disciplinary Committee described his conduct as “contrary to the spirit of unity, loyalty, and collective progress” expected of members.
Tenebe stressed that enforcing discipline within the party was crucial, particularly with the next general election drawing closer.
“If we tolerate indiscipline, we risk losing sight of the promises we’ve made,” he explained.
“The suspension is not about victimising anyone; it’s about setting a clear standard. Fortunately, the person involved has shown remorse, and there are internal processes already at work to resolve the matter.”
According to Tenebe, the APC in Edo State is focused on strengthening its internal structure, ensuring unity, and mobilising grassroots support to secure Tinubu’s victory in 2027.
“As a party, we are determined to instil discipline across every level,” he said. “Our goal is to go into 2027 not divided, but stronger and more coordinated than ever before.”
AFRIPOST reports that the Edo APC chairman’s fiery declaration underscores the party’s determination to consolidate power in a state long considered a key battleground ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
