Dangote denies link to Enugu fatal crash, reveals next action

Must read

Dangote Industries Limited has distanced itself from a cement-laden truck involved in a deadly crash in Enugu, insisting the vehicle does not belong to its fleet.

The accident, which occurred mid-morning on Wednesday, reportedly involved a Howo truck and a Toyota Corolla, leaving casualties and property damage in its wake.

Initial online reports had linked the truck to Dangote due to its branding, a claim the company says is false.

In a statement signed by its management, the conglomerate stressed that the truck was operated by a private logistics firm, not Dangote Group.

“We are already in touch with the appropriate authorities to understand why our name appeared on a vehicle we do not own,” the statement read.

“Such unauthorised use of our logo is unacceptable and will be met with tighter controls moving forward.”

The company noted that it rarely comments on individual incidents but was forced to respond because of what it described as “harmful misinformation.”

“It is our usual practice not to engage on single cases. However, repeated attempts to link tragic accidents to our operations without evidence cannot go unanswered.

“We urge both the public and the media to verify claims before publication,” the management added.

Dangote Group further pledged its cooperation with investigators, warning against attempts to exploit the tragedy.

“We will work with the relevant authorities to uncover the facts and ensure justice is served. We reject any effort to weaponise this incident for financial or political gain,” the statement concluded.

AFRIPOST reports that the incident has reignited public criticism over the frequent involvement of Dangote-branded trucks in road accidents across Nigeria.
