ABUJA – Dame (Dr) Princess Joy Nky Okoro, District Governor of Rotary International District 9127, has sent a message of condolence to Chief Nyesom Wike, Minister of the FCT, over the death of Mrs Grace Adayilo, pioneer Head of Service of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
According to statement signed by Dr Max Amuchie, District 9127 Media Relations Chair, the District Governor paid glowing tribute to the deceased Head of Service, saying Mrs Adayilo was a distinguished administrator and seasoned technocrat.
She recalled that the late Mrs Adayilo had previously served as education secretary of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), a position in which she displayed professionalism, humility and commitment to public service.
Dame Joy Okoro said her sterling performance at AMAC must have influenced her appointment by the FCT Minister as pioneer Head of Service of FCTA following President Bola Tinubu’s approval of a new civil service structure for FCT.
“We received the news of Mrs Adayilo’s passing with great shock. This must be a trying period for her family, loved ones and the FCT Administration. Mrs Adayilo’s passing has created a huge vacuum not only in the FCT Administration but in Nigeria’s public service.
“On behalf of my family and Rotarians in Rotary International District 9127, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the Minister, the FCTA, Mrs Adayilo’s colleagues, family and loved ones and we pray that God will grant them the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss”, the District Governor said.
Mrs Adayilo died in the early hours of Monday, September 1, 2025.
