Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has lifted the suspension earlier imposed on three top public officials, following a reversal by the state House of Assembly.
It would be recalled that the governor had previously upheld the House’s decision to suspend Maxwell Ogiri, Executive Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Area; Grace Adagba, Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB); and Michael Uper, Executive Secretary of the Benue State Lottery Commission.
The reversal came after recent leadership changes in the Assembly, with lawmakers urging the governor to reinstate the affected officials.
In a statement on Monday, his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, said the governor has complied with the House’s resolution.
“In compliance with the resolutions of the House, His Excellency hereby directs the immediate reinstatement of the affected officials.
“He reaffirms his respect for the constitutional roles of the legislature and reiterates his administration’s resolve to continue working harmoniously with all arms of government in the collective pursuit of peace, progress, and good governance in Benue State.
“He charges the reinstated officers to rededicate themselves to their duties, uphold the highest standards of accountability, and work diligently in the interest of the people.
“He appreciates the understanding and support of the people of Benue State and assures them of his continued commitment to building a transparent, responsive, and people-centered administration,” the statement added.
