The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC, has commenced distribution of election materials ahead of the local government council elections scheduled for tomorrow, August 30, 2025.
RSIEC has also deployed security personnel and ad-hoc staff to various local government areas.
Escorting the election materials, were security agencies. Some political party representatives were also cited monitoring the process.
According to the report, RSIEC office has remained busy throughout the day as some individuals who applied as ad-hoc staff were seen trooping in to verify their names, while election observers, monitors, and journalists carried out accreditation exercises.
Meanwhile, movement into the RSIEC premises has been restricted, with heavy security presence within and around the commission’s headquarters.
