Libyan police have arrested two Nigerians in Tripoli over their alleged involvement in a string of robberies across the city.
The suspects, both undocumented migrants, were taken into custody on August 25 after a closed-circuit television camera reportedly captured them breaking into a convenience store.
Their arrest was made public in a statement by Migrant Rescue Watch, a group that tracks migrant-related activities.
The organisation alleged that the culprits had been responsible for several break-ins and cash thefts from commercial outlets.
The statement said, “Police in Tripoli arrested 2 undocumented #migrants of Nigerian nationality responsible for series of break and entries and robberies.
“The accused were targeting commercial stores with the intent of seizing cash. The case was referred to public prosecutor.”
However, findings revealed that the case has been transferred to the Libyan public prosecutor for further action.
