Shettima chairs NEC meeting with Govs in Abuja

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Thursday presided over a meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The gathering was attended by key state and forum leaders, including the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as well as the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma.

Other governors present included Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Charles Soludo of Anambra, Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe, Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, Bassey Otu of Cross River, Hyacinth Alia of Benue, and Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State.

Also in attendance was the Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.).

The NEC, chaired by the Vice President, has the constitutional responsibility of advising the President on the nation’s economic affairs.

The council also oversees the coordination of economic planning, allocation of revenue, and the implementation of national economic policies.

The meeting is part of the council’s routine sessions to discuss pressing economic issues and policy matters affecting Nigeria.

Officials at the gathering noted that discussions covered strategies for revenue distribution among the states and the Federal Government, as well as approaches to enhance economic planning and policy execution.
