JUST IN: Bandits raid Sokoto communities, displace over 150 residents

Must read

A fresh wave of banditry has hit Sokoto State, forcing more than 150 residents to abandon their homes after gunmen invaded several villages in Rabah Local Government Area.

The attack, which occurred on Tuesday night, targeted Rara ward villages including Madawa, Cirib Dikko, Cirib Sabon Gari, Qaurare, Tafara, and Tukuyum.

Panic spread across the communities as families fled into the bush to escape the heavily armed attackers.

The development was made public on Wednesday morning by security analyst Bakatsine, who shared the alert on social media.

His account was later confirmed to AFRIPOST by a resident of one of the affected villages, who requested anonymity for safety reasons.

“Many people ran with only the clothes on their backs. Women and children are sleeping in the open, and we desperately need assistance from the authorities,” the community source said.

AFRIPOST reports that the incident adds to the growing list of violent raids in northern Nigeria, where bandit groups continue to terrorise rural settlements through killings, abductions, and destruction of property.

Local residents are now calling on the Sokoto State Government and federal security agencies to intervene urgently, provide relief materials, and restore safety in the affected areas.
