Less than a day after seven people were brutally murdered in Southern Kaduna, suspected bandits have struck again, this time in Hunkuyi, the administrative centre of Kudan Local Government in Northern Kaduna.
The latest attack, which occurred late Monday night, claimed one life and led to the abduction of a respected community member, Alhaji Shehu Dakin.
Residents say details about further casualties are still unclear as security forces continue to assess the situation.
AFRIPOST reports that this comes barely 24 hours after armed men launched a deadly raid on Angwan Rimi, a community in Kamaru Ward, Kauru Local Government Area.
That incident, which happened Sunday night into early Monday morning, left seven people, mostly children, dead and eight others with severe injuries.
Community leaders confirmed the killings, describing the attackers as heavily armed marauders.
“Seven lives were cut short in the most painful way, while several others, including children, are battling for survival with bullet wounds and machete cuts,” said Iliya Tata, spokesperson of the Irigwe Development Association.
Graphic evidence of the attack was shared with rights groups, showing the scale of destruction and the vulnerability of the victims.
Among those killed were minors aged between one and fifteen, alongside young women. The association listed their names as Jacob Zaka (12), Magret Mathias (5), Delight Paul (1), Sati Markus (9), Confidence Yakubu (15), Veronica Paul (25), and Matthew Sunday (14).
Eight others, including children as young as one, sustained life-threatening injuries. Families are said to be in mourning while survivors receive medical care under strained conditions.
