Two suspected kidnappers have been taken off by the Kebbi State Police Command.
The suspects were killed during a gun battle along the Tungargiwa–Saminaka road on Sunday.
According to Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, security operatives received intelligence about a gang planning to ambush commuters and swiftly a joint team of police and other security agents launched an operation in the forest, engaging the suspects in a gunfight that left two dead while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
An AK-47 rifle, a magazine and live ammunition were reportedly recovered at the scene.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani commended the operatives for their bravery, adding that sustained patrols in Shanga Local Government Area and nearby communities have been helping to curb crime.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to security agencies, assuring that the command remains committed to protecting lives and property in the state.
