Ganduje returns to Nigeria after medical trip to London

Must read

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has returned to Nigeria following a month-long stay in London for medical treatment.

The ex-Kano State governor reportedly arrived in the country on Wednesday morning, weeks after stepping down from his position as the ruling party’s leader.

Confirming his return, Ganduje’s former Chief of Staff, Mohammed Garba, said the APC chieftain was back in good health.

“He got back today and is doing well. He has since settled into his residence,” Garba told journalists.

Ganduje left Nigeria for the United Kingdom just days after he resigned from the APC leadership, a move that stirred heated political debates.

He had been at the party’s helm since August 2023 before formally relinquishing the seat on June 27, 2025, citing health concerns.

Barely two weeks after stepping down, the Presidency appointed him Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) on July 9.

His role as APC National Chairman has since been taken over by former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Netanwe Yilwatda.

Ganduje’s return is expected to spark renewed interest in his next political moves, particularly as debates continue over his sudden resignation and swift reassignment to a key federal board position.
