US Secret Service arrest woman plotting to kidnap, assassinate Trump

Must read

A 50-year-old woman from Lafayette, Indiana, has been taken into custody after federal investigators accused her of plotting to kidnap and assassinate President Donald Trump.

The suspect, identified as Nathalie Rose Jones, was arrested on August 16, 2025, following an investigation by the U.S. Secret Service.

Officials said Jones made a series of graphic posts on Facebook and Instagram that detailed violent intentions toward the president.

In one of her posts, prosecutors said, she described a so-called “removal ceremony” and threatened to use brutal methods to kill Trump.

Court documents revealed that she also linked her threats to prominent political figures, while vowing that her actions would serve as retribution for deaths recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Federal authorities disclosed that Jones was interviewed by agents on August 15, a day before her arrest.

During questioning, she allegedly admitted she would try to kill Trump “if given the chance.” However, she later changed her account, insisting she had abandoned the plan.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia announced the charges in a statement on August 18.

Jones faces two federal counts: threatening the president and transmitting interstate threats to kidnap or injure a person. Each offence carries a possible five-year prison sentence.

“Threats against the life of a sitting president are among the gravest crimes we prosecute,” U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro stated.

“This office will act decisively against anyone who makes such violent declarations.”

Court filings also suggest Jones has a history of mental health struggles, a fact she herself mentioned in her online activity. At the moment, there is no indication that she has secured legal counsel.

If convicted, Jones could face significant prison time, though the court is expected to take her mental health into consideration during the proceedings.
