Must read

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has suspended three senior officials, including the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Grace Adagba.

The others are Maxwell Ogiri, Executive Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Area, and Michael Uper, Executive Secretary of the Benue State Lottery Commission.

Each official has been suspended for one month, effective from Wednesday, August 20, 2025. The move follows a resolution passed by the Benue State House of Assembly.

According to the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, the suspensions are part of the administration’s commitment to due process, the rule of law, and the separation of powers.

“The Governor appreciates the Assembly for exercising its constitutional responsibilities and assures the people of Benue State that his administration remains committed to transparency and accountability,” the statement said.

Governor Alia also urged the affected institutions to continue delivering services without disruption during the suspension period.

The Assembly has also announced that screening of commissioner nominees will be delayed until its resolutions are fully implemented.
