Bandits kill two Policemen in Zamfara attack

Two operatives of the Mobile Police Force (MOPOL) have been killed following an attack by armed bandits on Tsafe town in Zamfara State.

The incident, which left the community in shock, was disclosed on Monday by a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst, Zagazola Makama, via his X handle and sighted by AFRIPOST.

Zagazola posted: “Armed bandits have killed two Mobile Police Force (MOPOL) operatives in an attack on Tsafe town in Zamfara State.

“A security source told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred late Sunday night when the bandits stormed the outskirts of Tsafe along the Yankuzo road.

“The source said the operatives, who were on duty in the area, came under heavy fire from the attackers and lost their lives in the process.

Meanwhile, Zagazola has ameliorated the fear of residents over reported sound of explosion in Maiduguri.

In another post via his X handle, he said, “The sounds of heavy explosions heard around 9:00 p.m. this evening im Maiduguri and environs were from the routine testing of repaired artillery guns.

“The weapons were tested at the Njimtilo military range as part of standard maintenance and operational readiness procedures.

“There is no cause for alarm. The activity was purely a controlled military exercise and not related to any attack or security breach in the city.

“The public is kindly urged to remain calm and go about their normal activities.
