A prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, Hon. Ibrahim Muhammad, popularly known as Abba Kubau, has officially resigned from the party and declared his move to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Kubau, an influential figure in Kaduna South politics, confirmed his decision in a resignation letter addressed to the PDP ward chairman of Tudun Wada South Ward 7.
The letter, obtained by AFRIPOST, on Thursday, August 14, stated that his exit followed extensive consultations with his supporters and political associates.
According to him, persistent internal wrangling and factional disputes within the PDP had weakened the party’s structure, prompting him to seek a new political platform.
“The level of instability and divisions within the PDP poses a real threat to its survival. After careful thought and wide consultations, I decided to leave for a party where unity and progress take precedence,” Kubau stated.
He expressed gratitude to the PDP for the opportunities to serve in various capacities, including his role in campaigns and electoral committees, and during his contest for the chairmanship of Kaduna South Local Government Council.
Kubau’s defection is expected to boost the ADC’s growing influence in Kaduna politics, especially as the state’s political landscape continues to witness high-profile shifts ahead of the next election cycle.
With this move, political observers say the ADC may gain stronger grassroots support in southern Kaduna, a region considered crucial in the state’s electoral contests.
