Bandit kingpin killed by rival gang over dominance

Must read

A notorious bandit leader, Kachalla Alti, has gunned down a fellow kingpin during a violent clash for dominance in Matsuki village, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

According to security analyst, Zagazola, who revealed the details of the attack on his X page, the confrontation, which erupted around 4:45 p.m. on Monday, has plunged the area into panic, forcing many residents to flee for safety.

Zagazola described the killing as part of a bitter struggle for control between two armed factions.

The victim, identified as 40-year-old Dankarami Usaini, was a Hausa native of Matsuki and had operated for years from the Dangajeru forest.

He was widely accused of extorting villagers and unleashing attacks on those who resisted his demands.

The security analyst said according to community members, Dankarami was in Matsuki to collect levies on behalf of Alti, who is the younger brother of the infamous gang leader, Adamu Alero.

However, tensions had been mounting over what residents described as “relentless harassment” by the slain bandit.

Faced with growing complaints, Alti reportedly arrived in the village with his armed men and shot Dankarami dead on the spot.

“It happened so fast; people were screaming and running,” a witness recounted. “We knew there would be trouble after this.”

Following the incident, many villagers abandoned their homes, fearing reprisal attacks from Dankarami’s loyalists.

Sporadic gunfire has since been reported along nearby forest paths, fuelling concerns that the violence could escalate.

Security forces have yet to issue a statement on the killing, while local authorities say the situation remains tense.
