The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two men in connection with the alleged possession of three human skulls in the Ijebu axis of the state.

Police spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, revealed the development in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abeokuta, the state capital.

She said the incident occurred on Monday, August 11, when operatives of the 71 Police Mobile Force (PMF), Awa Ijebu, were conducting a routine stop-and-search along the Ijebu Ode–Ibadan Expressway, near Refugees Camp Junction, Oru Ijebu.

During the operation, officers intercepted a motorcyclist identified as Kadir Owolabi. “A search of his bag revealed three human skulls, leading to his immediate arrest,” Odutola said.

Further investigation reportedly led police to another suspect, 53-year-old Jamiu Yisa, who was apprehended near the Ijebu Ode Local Government Secretariat.

Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take over the matter for thorough investigation.

The command reassured residents of its unwavering commitment to tackling crime in all forms.

It also urged the public to provide credible information, promising confidentiality and protection of informants’ identities.
