Bandits attack Katsina community, kill residents, abduct dozens

Must read

Residents of Sayaya town in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State are reeling in shock after a late-night attack by armed bandits left multiple people dead, others injured, and several abducted.

Northern security analyst, Bakatsine, disclosed the incident in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, August 12.

He revealed that the attackers stormed the community on Monday night, unleashing violence that has once again raised concerns over the persistent insecurity in the region.

“Bandits struck Sayaya town, killing residents, wounding many, and abducting several others.

“The repeated assaults on Matazu communities require immediate government intervention,” Bakatsine wrote.

AFRIPOST reports that the latest attack adds to a series of violent raids that have plagued rural communities in Katsina State, particularly in Matazu LGA, where residents say they live in constant fear of armed invasions.

Community members have repeatedly called for increased security presence, stressing that the absence of swift action will only embolden the attackers.

Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
