Gunmen have reportedly abducted six people, including five women and a bus conductor, along the Takum–Katsina Ala Road in Taraba State.

A counter-insurgency reporter, Makama Zagazola disclosed the development in a post on X formerly Twitter and sighted by AFRIPOST.

The post reads, “the incident occurred at Kampo Village when gunmen, numbering about six and armed with firearms, intercepted a Toyota Hummer bus with registration number SDA 61 XB, belonging to Dan Pullo Transport Company.

According to Zagazola, sources said that the bus, which was travelling from Rivers State to Gembu, was forced off the road and driven into the bush by the assailants.

The driver, Aliyu Umar, reported that the gunmen robbed all passengers of their phones, ATM cards, and other valuables, including unspecified amounts of cash.

“The attackers demanded ATM card PINs. Those who refused to give correct PINs, including the five female passengers and the conductor, were taken away to an unknown location, while others were released along with the vehicle,” the sources said.

The sources said four of the abducted women are from Gembu, while one is from Jalingo.

“Following the report, police patrol teams, local hunters, and operatives from the Area Command combed the surrounding bush without success.”
