Must read

Gunmen have attacked the convoy of Dr. Oluebube Chukwu, Senior Special Assistant to the Abia State Governor on Special Duties, along the Port Harcourt–Enugu Expressway.

AFRIPOST reports that the incident happened around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, shortly after the convoy passed Ihube Junction, opposite the Imo State Produce Point in Imo State.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that three armed men emerged by the roadside and opened fire on the Toyota Hilux escort vehicle carrying two police officers.

The bullets also struck Dr. Chukwu’s Toyota Highlander SUV, shattering parts of the vehicle.

According to sources, the assailants’ shots pierced the Highlander where Dr. Chukwu was seated, but he escaped unhurt.

“We counted four bullet holes on the SUV when it was inspected at the station,” a security source disclosed.

The gunmen reportedly fled the scene after the attack, while security personnel escorted Dr. Chukwu to safety.

Authorities have yet to confirm whether the shooting was an assassination attempt or a random criminal act, but investigations are ongoing.
