The senator for Katsina Central, Abdulaziz Yar’Adua, has clarified that he is still an authentic member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The senator called reports that he was leaving the ruling party “speculative and mischievous” in a statement released yesterday.
He declared, “I want to reaffirm my unwavering support and commitment to the All Progressives Congress. I request that any speculative headlines implying my party defection be ignored by the media.”
According to Yar’Adua, not all individuals who go by the name Yar’Adua have ties to him or his family members.
“I want to make it clear that not everyone who goes by the Yar’Adua name is politically connected to me,” he stated.
The lawmaker claimed that several media sources intentionally caused confusion by associating him with unconnected people.
“As the chairman of the Northern Senators Forum and the Senate Committee on Army, I am still dedicated to collaborating with Senate leadership to advance legislative reforms that bolster President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s initiatives,” he stated.
He commended Tinubu’s administration for investing in important areas, including road development, agriculture, and security hiring, as well as for increasing funding to sub-national governments.
Yar’Adua further revealed that in the last two years, the president has made a concerted effort to boost funding for states and local governments, make investments in vital infrastructure, and fortify the security framework.
In conclusion, he said, “As political leaders, we must support the president to make sure his reforms actually help the average Nigerian.”
