Unknown gunmen have invaded the house of Ifesinachi Onyekere, a popular businessman in the Okpuno community in the Awka area of Anambra State.
AFRIPOST gathered that the gunmen attacked the home of the businessman, who is the managing director of Fish Magnet and the son of the Women Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, late Saturday night.
Before whisking Ifesinachi away, the gunmen, according to Zagazola, a security analyst, shot him in the leg.
While reporting on the attack via his X page, the security analyst wrote, “Armed men abducted a prominent Anambra businessman, Ifesinachi Onyekere, on Saturday night in Okpuno community near Awka, shooting him in the leg before taking him to an unknown location.
“Onyekere, who is the Managing Director of Fish Magnet and son of the Women Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, was reportedly attacked at about 10:30 p.m. at his residence in Ezinifite Village, a remote part of the town.
“Eyewitnesses said the gunmen, who arrived in an ash-coloured Lexus SUV, forced their way into the compound, shot the victim in the leg, and fled with him in his own navy blue Toyota Corolla. The vehicle’s registration number remains unknown.”
Zagazola further disclosed that following the kidnapping, vigilantes and local volunteers have been dispatched to search the bush path that the gunmen used to escape.
Meanwhile, to verify the report further, a call was placed to the Anambra state police command spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, but the spokesperson requested that a text message be sent.
However, as of the time of filing this report, DSP Tochukwu has yet to respond to the sent text message.
