As the politicking between political parties and politicians thickens ahead of the 2027 presidential election, Former Borno State governor, Ali Modu Sheriff, has hinted at the possibility of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi returning to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The former Borno state Governor revealed that Obi’s ambition is to become President and to do that, he is likely to return to the PDP and win the Presidential ticket.
While speaking yesterday evening on Channels TV Politics today, Sheriff further revealed that based on the information he has been receiving, Obi will likely clinch the Presidential ticket.
He stated, “Atiku has been the vice president of Nigeria. So for him, it is president or nothing. Peter Obi ran under the Labour Party. His ambition is to become President.
“Information available to me is that any moment from now, Obi would go back to the PDP and run as a presidential candidate under the PDP.
“So that leaves Vice President Atiku and (Rotimi) Amaechi. So tell me, which states do they control?”
AFRIPOST had reported weeks back how Peter Obi had joined other top political figures, including Atiku, Amaechi, El-Rufai and others, to create the coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to challenge President Tinubu in 2027.
However, based on information from multiple sources and indications from the politicians (Atiku, Amaechi and Peter Obi), they want to contest during the 2027 presidential election.
With this, it might be difficult for Peter Obi to clinch the ADC’s presidential ticket, hence the speculation by the Borno state former Governor that the former Anambra Governor will return to PDP to clinch the Presidential ticket for the 2027 Presidency.
