Sampson Ekong, representing Akwa Ibom South, and Aniekan Bassey, the lawmaker for Akwa Ibom North-East, have officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Their defection was formally announced during Wednesday’s Senate plenary session, when Senate President Godswill Akpabio read their letters of withdrawal from the PDP.
The move adds to the growing number of lawmakers switching allegiance ahead of upcoming political contests, signalling shifting dynamics in Akwa Ibom State’s political landscape.
