Ibrahim Kashim, a former Secretary to the Bauchi State Government, has officially withdrawn his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The development was confirmed through a resignation letter that surfaced on Monday, although it did not disclose the specific reason behind his decision to leave the party.
In the letter, Kashim expressed his appreciation to the PDP leadership at his ward level for the opportunity to serve within the party. He noted that their support led to his emergence as the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate ahead of the 2023 elections.
It will be recalled that prior to the 2023 general elections, Kashim stepped aside as the PDP governorship candidate in favour of Governor Bala Mohammed, who was then pursuing the party’s presidential nomination.
Kashim also reflected on his contributions during the campaign period, stating that he worked closely with Governor Mohammed across Bauchi Local Government Area to mobilize support and overcome the region’s historic trend of resistance to re-electing second-term governors.
“While discharging my duties as SSG, I actively participated in ensuring our victory in nearly every ward, despite the odds,” he wrote.
He went on to announce his departure from the PDP: “After careful reflection, I hereby tender my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party with immediate effect. I intend to explore other political platforms through which I can continue serving our people with dedication, integrity, and the fear of Almighty Allah.”
