A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Abiola Ogundokun, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure re-election in 2027, dismissing the chances of key opposition figures such as Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Ogundokun advised presidential hopefuls in opposition parties to reconsider their ambitions and instead align with Tinubu’s political vision if they intend to be relevant in the next political cycle.
“Anyone with serious presidential aspirations should be aligning with Tinubu now and exploring a transition strategy, not plotting to challenge him. They are free to contest in 2027, but the outcome will not be different from 2023—they will lose again,” he said.
Ogundokun, a veteran politician from Iwo and former spokesperson for the defunct National Party of Nigeria, described President Tinubu as the most tactically prepared leader Nigeria has produced in the Fourth Republic.
He praised the President’s political strategy and noted the wave of defections into the APC as evidence of Tinubu’s growing influence and dominance on the political landscape.
“President Tinubu is far ahead of the opposition in political planning and execution,” Ogundokun stated.
“He moves like a master chess player—every move calculated. His strength lies in experience, vision, and the ability to unite and lead.”
He criticized opposition parties such as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party, and African Democratic Congress (ADC), claiming they lack the capacity and strategic planning necessary to defeat the APC in a national election.
The APC stalwart also applauded Tinubu’s achievements so far in office, pointing to declining security threats, major infrastructure projects, and the removal of fuel subsidies—which he said has allowed state and local governments more financial flexibility for development.
According to him, Tinubu’s political journey and leadership style are worthy of academic study.
“His rise to the presidency was not accidental—it was the product of more than 20 years of planning and grassroots mobilization,” he added.
“Tinubu represents a new era of democratic leadership defined by vision, patience, and delivery.”
Ogundokun concluded by urging Nigerians to stand behind President Tinubu in the next general election, saying the administration has remained committed to its promises and continues to deliver responsive governance across the country.
