Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has officially withdrawn his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Fadahunsi announced his resignation in a letter he personally signed and dated June 12, 2025. The letter was directed to the PDP Ward Chairman in Ward 4, Obokun Local Government Area, Osun State.
In the letter, the senator cited deep-rooted divisions and lingering court cases affecting the party at the national level since the conclusion of the 2023 general elections as his reason for leaving.
“I hereby inform you of my decision to resign from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) effective immediately.
“This decision stems from persistent internal strife and unresolved legal issues that have plagued the party since the 2023 elections,” the letter read in part.
He noted that the choice to part ways with the PDP was made after extensive consultations with his political allies, family members, and close associates.
A party insider in Ilesa, who preferred not to be named, confirmed that Fadahunsi’s exit was not surprising, as he had been planning to leave the PDP for some time despite pressure to remain.
