Super Falcons humiliate Zambia 5–0 to reach WAFCON semi-finals

Must read

Nigeria’s Super Falcons delivered a commanding performance on Friday, thrashing Zambia 5–0 to book a place in the semi-finals of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The match, played in Casablanca, Morocco, saw the Nigerian side take early control with a second-minute header from defender Osinachi Ohale.

The Falcons doubled their lead in the 33rd minute through Esther Okoronkwo, who slotted home from close range after a defensive mix-up by the Zambians.

Chinwendu Ihezuo added a third just before halftime, taking the score to 3–0 and effectively sealing Nigeria’s dominance.

The Super Falcons resumed the second half with continued pressure and were rewarded when Tosin Demehin nodded in a fourth goal from a set-piece in the 69th minute.

The fifth and final goal came in added time, completing a one-sided rout that left Zambia with no answers.

With this result, Nigeria moves closer to claiming a record-extending 10th WAFCON title as part of their ongoing “Mission X” campaign.

The Super Falcons will now face either Morocco or Cameroon in the semi-finals.
