Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, alongside ex-Governors Peter Obi and Nasir El-Rufai, paid a condolence visit to the family of late President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday morning.
According to Naija News, the three prominent politicians gathered at Buhari’s residence to mourn with his loved ones and honor the former Nigerian leader who passed away in London on Sunday after a protracted illness. His burial took place on Tuesday at his private home.
During the visit, Peter Obi personally consoled Buhari’s daughters, offering heartfelt sympathy.
Atiku and El-Rufai also took time to visit the grave of the late president, where they offered prayers.
Meanwhile, Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, while speaking to reporters at the burial, recalled intimate moments shared with Buhari after his presidency ended in 2023.
Radda said: “After he left office in 2023, he spent about two years in Daura, Katsina.
In that period, I was fortunate to interact with him more frequently, discussing national issues. He was a jovial person who often made me laugh.”
He further recounted a significant piece of advice from the late president: “He always told me, ‘Your Excellency, go and do your best and be honest as a leader. You cannot satisfy Nigerians; only God can do that.’”
Radda added, “He said he suffered a lot, but now he sees himself as a free man with a sense of relief.”
