The Katsina State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies under the leadership of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Zone 14, has put in place extensive security arrangements in Daura and across Katsina State ahead of the burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
This was made known in a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, who said the deployment aims to guarantee a peaceful and orderly burial ceremony for the late Nigerian leader.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, has expressed heartfelt condolences to the people and government of Katsina State, as well as the family and associates of the late president.
The command also acknowledged Buhari’s enduring contributions to national growth and development.
In a related effort, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Katsina State has also mobilised 2,807 personnel to complement security efforts.
This was disclosed by the State Commandant, Aminu Datti, during a briefing with senior officials on Monday at the NSCDC headquarters in Katsina.
Commandant Datti revealed that the Commandant-General of the NSCDC, Abubakar Audi, has directed the deployment to ensure comprehensive safety measures before, during, and after the burial.
He also expressed deep sorrow over the former president’s passing.
The command’s strategy includes surveillance, intelligence gathering, community engagement, and coordinated operations with other security bodies.
Critical locations, including the Daura hometown of the late leader, the Umaru Musa Yar’adua Airport, and royal palaces in Katsina and Daura, have all been fortified.
“All deployed personnel must act professionally and work in synergy with sister agencies to ensure maximum security,” Datti stated.
