Mamman Daura shares final hours with Buhari before his passing

Must read

Alhaji Mamman Daura, a longtime confidant and relative of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has spoken about the emotional final moments leading up to Buhari’s death in London.

In an interview with THISDAY, Daura, who is also a veteran journalist, said he visited Buhari at the London Clinic on Saturday, a day before the former leader died.

He revealed that Buhari was in good spirits and optimistic about returning to Nigeria, with all arrangements in place for his discharge.

Daura noted that Buhari was thoughtful enough to ensure hotel expenses for those who travelled to London to support him were taken care of. The late President was eagerly awaiting a scheduled check-up by his physician on Sunday morning.

“I was with him on Saturday night. He was cheerful, discussing various issues, and looked forward to leaving London soon. Everything was being finalized for his return,” Daura shared.

Tragically, on Sunday, Buhari’s health deteriorated sharply. By midday, he was having serious breathing difficulties.

Medical personnel responded promptly, but their efforts proved unsuccessful. Buhari was pronounced dead at about 4:30 p.m.
